From her indelible effects on the English language to the ratings she pulled for the network, none can compare to her singular legacy. So what will it actually take to bring her back to <em>The Real Housewives of Atlanta<\/em>?<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>On Monday\u2019s episode of Crystal Kung Minkoff and Cynthia Bailey\u2019s podcast <em>Humble Brag<\/em>, the former <em>The Real Housewives of Atlanta<\/em> lead opened up about appearing on the show again. Bailey, a former castmate herself, attempted to talk up the benefits of appearing as an occasional guest instead of a lead. Leakes, in response, had this to say: \u201cIf I were to ever step back on that platform, would I be a friend? I really kind of feel like\u2026 I don\u2019t know that I would be a friend. I just would think, NeNe, season 1, the first Housewife, and I\u2019m a friend? I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"rm-shortcode\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"28d9e08f85659f73a5487148972fe59a\" style=\"position:relative;padding-top:56.25%\"><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"nene leakes moments that i could recite like a book\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g0dK0CZBUmc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Fans will know Leakes <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/nene-leakes-leaving-real-housewives-of-atlanta\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>dramatically exited<\/u><\/a> the franchise after season 12. In a message ahead of the show\u2019s 13th season, she said: &#8220;Thank you to all of you guys that have been showing me a lot of love and support as of late. I feel you, I hear you. I have been on an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation.\u201d According to sources at the time, conversations between Leakes and the network had unraveled beyond repair, with Leakes adding in her statement: \u201cThere has been a lot of emotion flying on both sides. It has been hard, and I have made the very hard and difficult decision to not be a part of Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In 2022, she filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/nene-leakes-sues-bravo-and-andy-cohen-for-alleged-racist-and-hostile-work-environment-reports\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>discrimination lawsuit <\/u><\/a>against Bravo, alleging that the network, NBC Universal and the production company had fostered \u201ca corporate and workplace culture in which racially-insensitive and inappropriate behavior is tolerated \u2014 if not, encouraged.&#8221; She also claimed that co-star Kim Zolciak-Biermann made repeated racist comments and was protected by the network, even after Leakes had gone to her bosses about her concerns. It was later <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/nene-leakes-dismisses-discrimination-lawsuit-against-bravo\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>dismissed<\/u><\/a> by Leakes herself later that year. <\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>While she appeared hesitant to fully commit to an eventual return on the <em>Humble Brag<\/em> podcast, Leakes\u2019 relationship with the network has warmed over the years. In the same interview, she spoke about how she\u2019d been offered a spot on the hit show <em>The Traitors<\/em>, only to turn it down over concerns for her son\u2019s health.
