James Gunn has finally addressed a casting rumour for the role Batman in the DCU, and it has left fans ecstatic.<\/p>\n

Throughout the years, viewers have been treated to a vast array of Bruce Wayne\u2019s, from Christian Bale to Robert Pattinson.<\/p>\n

In Matt Reeves\u2019 latest take on the crime<\/a> fighting saviour, Pattinson opted for a slimmed down Batman.<\/p>\n

However, now, following the release of Gunn\u2019s Superman starring David Corenswet<\/a> and Nicholas Hoult, fans could be in store for an extremely muscular Batman in Reacher star<\/a> Alan Ritchson.<\/p>\n

Talking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused<\/a> podcast, Gunn discussed the potential casting for some of the other characters in the DCU.<\/p>\n

In 2022 the filmmaker was named co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios and began planning the new DC Universe with a group of writers.<\/p>\n

Despite Reeves and Pattinson still developing a second Batman film together, Gunn has said within the official DC universe another Batman character can exist, although he would avoid having both films in theatres in the same calendar year to help with confusion.<\/p>\n

Asked about the Batman project in the DCU, Gunn confirmed that the project wasn\u2019t as far along in development compared to other ideas.<\/p>\n

However, commenting on Ritchson, he said: \u2018I am a big Alan Ritchson fan. Both as an actor and as a guy. Let\u2019s just wait to see what happens.\u2019<\/p>\n

Discussing this on X, @GoodGamers said: \u2018All my dreams would come true in an instant if he plays Batman.\u2019<\/p>\n

@Wutangflan23 added: \u2018Out of anyone that played batman Alan Ritchson has the frame to play Batman more than anyone has.\u2019<\/p>\n

@BitsOfJT also said: \u2018There is no one I want more to play Batman than Ritchson. Perfect build for a comic book batman.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, @Planet_Taylor said \u2018make it happen\u2019 while @duudestellar called it a \u2018perfect fit\u2019.<\/p>\n

Ritchson himself has some previous DC experience playing Aquaman in Smallville and Hawk in Titans.<\/p>\n

In the past he has also made multiple comments about wanting to play the DC hero.<\/p>\n

During an interview with\u00a0Fortress of Solitude<\/a>, he said: \u2018With all the rumours flying that I\u2019m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He similarly told\u00a0THR<\/a>: \u2018I\u2019ll shout it from the rooftops, \u2018I want to be Bruce Wayne!\u2019<\/p>\n

Even during an interview with WIRED<\/a>, he explained: \u2018I get asked every day if I\u2019m playing Batman. Yeah, would I play Batman? Yes. Would I pay handsomely to be Batman?\u2019<\/p>\n
