A horror film<\/a> lauded as \u2018outstanding\u2019 is streaming right now on Amazon Prime Video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Invisible Man<\/a>, directed by Leigh Whannell<\/a>, revitalised interest in Universal\u2019s proposed Dark Universe<\/a>, which was set to bring the classic Universal Monsters back to the big screen.<\/p>\n

Following the box office flop that was The Mummy<\/a>, Whannell\u2019s 2020 adaptation of The Invisible Man was widely praised by critics thanks to how it tackled themes of domestic abuse.<\/p>\n

It stars Elisabeth Moss<\/a> as Cecilia Kass, a woman trapped in a violent and controlling relationship with wealthy optics engineer and businessman Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen).<\/p>\n

After finally leaving, it is reported that Adrian has died by suicide. But Elisabeth is still subjected to his terror after it is revealed that he developed technology to become invisible and torment his ex.<\/p>\n

It grossed a whopping $145million (\u00a3107.7m) worldwide against a $7m (\u00a35.2m) budget and received numerous accolades, including a Critics\u2019 Choice nomination.<\/p>\n

Woman was in development with Elizabeth Banks set to star.<\/p>\n<p>However, she revealed that the film was on hold while Universal focused on a sequel to The Invisible Man.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018For one thing, what happened was they made an Invisible Man movie, and they\u2019re making another one,\u2019 she told <a href=\"https:\/\/comicbook.com\/movies\/news\/the-invisible-woman-elizabeth-banks-update-status-universal-monsters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ComicBook.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So I think Universal wants to see that through.
